4 friends stayed at this house for 4 nights in January. It was a wonderful experience. They have thought of everything in this home (except a fireplace) so you really do have the comforts of home. The home was exceptionally clean and we enjoyed the deer that came to the feeders every afternoon – a great winter retreat that we would highly recommend and will try to come back to next year.
Renting over the Internet has an element of uncertainty, especially if you are from out of town. This Stillwater cabin was everything we wanted and more. We had a very pleasant surprise when we opened the door. It was very clean and the amenities are understated. There was a lot thoughtfulness put into making sure guests have everything they need. These owners were more than accommodating and went out of their way for us. I have recommended this rental to other family members from out of town and, when the occasion arises for us to visit Minnesota again, we sincerely hope that this cabin will be available.
We rented the cabin in the woods to celebrate my moms 50th birthday. It was fantastic. The owners were so easy to work with, everything was in perfect condition. The place is even better than this website makes it sound. We had a fire in the fire pit, we used the grill to cook out, we played games in the game room, played cards, etc. I can’t wait to come back to Stillwater and rent this place again. Thanks for everything!
Excellent cabin to stay at! We were here with our grandchildren . Quiet country living at its best. One walk produced wild turkey, chickens, horses and deer! The home as beautiful and kid friendly. We will be back! Thanks so much!
We stayed here for Christmas, and found it delightful. Everytime I would think of something I needed-there it was! We had 4 adults and 4 kids (We brought our own cots) and we had a GREAT time. I would love to come back and stay again sometime. We had another family over for dinner one night, and I don’t think we saw the kids al evening, they had so much fun in the basement. It was a cozy and memorable place to stay. In Addition, they had decorated the cabin for Christmas, complete with Christmas tree-I think they had more decorations than we did at home! It was so warm and relaxing.
Our family gathered here for a long Thanksgiving weekend together. It was COLD outside but always warm inside. My two grandchildren are age two & four. What fun they had! Aunts & uncle, Grandma & Grandpa & TOYS. We found kid’s puzzles & games in the cupboards, dolls & doll furniture in a closet, children’s movies in the TV stand & then there was the basement — tons of fun toys down there. We were there 4 nights and I don’t know if we even found all the toys. We all enjoyed the cabin, nicely designed for relaxing together or cooking together. The oven cooked up a wonderful Thanksgiving Day turkey. We even found fun children’s plates in the kitchen cupboards. There must be good shopping nearby because a couple of my daughters got up at 3:00 a.m. on Friday to catch the good sales. My favorite was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee enjoying the sunshine and watching all the birds at the feeders and occassionally some deer. Out for a walk one afternoon with my granddaughter after a fresh snowfall, we found where three deer had bedded down near the cabin. We would recommend this cabin to anyone, we found it to be a clean & comfortable place tucked into the woods.
this cabin is beautiful, peaceful, secluded and the perfect place for a getaway, it was clean, very well maintained inside and out, beautiful nature, closest stores only about 10-15 min drive. I’ll definitely be returning in the future.
Six out-of-state family members stayed here for a sibling reunion and it was perfect! The “nature sanctuary” setting offered a great environment for casual visiting on the deck and porch, and peaceful evenings around the campfire. The chirping of the birds was a perfect alarm clock! The kitchen was more than adequately equipped for cooking and serving full meals. The charming home was tastefully and appropriately decorated, and it was very clean. Although our group was “older”, families with children would certainly enjoy the toys, games, and other recreational offerings in the house. Our only difficulty was in finding the place the first day! Paying close attention to the turns of 110th Street, eventually ending up on a gravel road, is very important! We enjoyed the trolley tour of Stillwater, a pleasant dinner cruise on the St. Croix, leisurely walking through the downtown streets and the parks along the river, and visiting the quaint shops in Stillwater. Oh…not to be missed is a giant ice cream cone at Nelson’s in Stillwater. It was also convenient for day trips to St. Paul and Minneapolis. We would certainly recommend it to friends.
My family (6 adults, 1 toddler) stayed for 3 nights just after Christmas. It couldn’t have been better. It was close to the Twin Cities for those who needed to go into work, close to Stillwater for those who wanted to browse the shops, and still had the feeling of truly being away from it all off of a dirt road in the woods (hearing the horses in the background). The floor-plan is very comfortable for a group. People can be in the living room for “together time” or go into their own rooms for privacy. Very modern, yet cozy (with all of the Christmas decorations). We’d love to go back in the fall and go biking on the nearby trail. Highly recommend for low-key relaxation.
We stayed just a couple of days, but it was a wonderul stay! Everything was very clean, cozy and quiet. The wildlife in the back yard was a sight to behold. The entire house is well-stocked and everything worked well. It was just a short drive to Stillwater and 36 and had wonderful tracks for running nearby. We came to this rental very short notice (maybe a day?) and still everything was clean and welcoming. Thanks a lot!
We attended a family wedding in Stillwater, and rented this house as our base of operations.
It was so quiet and secluded….lots of wildlife, deer, squirrels, wild turkeys, rabbits….lots of colorful birds at the birdfeeders. Large front porch with an old fashioned radio to listen to music and comfortable furniture on the porch as well as tables to dine on. Back deck overlooks beautiful yard…also has large table and chairs.
Inside house spacious w/3 BR….downstairs laundry and wonderful playroom. (keep door at top of steps closed for small children (steep stairs!)
We had a wonderful time and highly reccommend the property. The owners were delightful to work with….answered our questions, were helpful, and kept the birds happy with full feeders!

I would recommend this place to anyone!! We needed a place for us, the parents (grandparents), to stay where our kids and their children could come and visit us for the Christmas holiday. The house was perfect! It was clean, it had everything we needed in the kitchen especially, since I wanted to make a couple of meals for all the kids and the grand kids when they came. It was very relaxing when it was just the two of us, looking out the dining room table and seeing all kinds of birds eating at the bird feeder. I loved it especially that the owners decorated a Christmas tree and had all kinds of Christmas decor to make the setting for this special holiday even more special. There were toys for the grand kids downstairs and things to entertain the older adults too. It is also very convenient to where most of our children lived, so it was not terribly far for any one of them to travel in the tough Minnesota weather. Thank you so much for the wonderful place. I am going to ask my children if we can hold our Christmas here again for the coming year. We absolutely loved it!
My bride, our Quiver of boys and I enjoyed 5 days @ the cabin.
This place was 100% ready for us to move-in: Complete with even a waffle iron for Saturday morning breakfast!
What a great place to stay!!
Enjoy the day and THE ABUNDANT BLESSING of the Lord.

My family spent a week at this rental home in July 2007. It was the best home rental we have rented yet. We have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. Both boys loved the swing set and sand box. The home had additional fun stuff that wasn’t mentioned. There were games, books and movies. The basement had a foos ball table, 2 stand up arcade games along with many other toys.
While this is a rural location it was only about a 10-15 minute drive to downtown Stillwater. The rural location made for lots of wildlife. The owners had several bird feeders and a big block of food that the deer would come and eat off every morning. We saw many different kinds of birds. Cardinals, Oreal’s, Canarys, Finches and many others I have never seen. We also saw 3 families of wild turkeys that would wander through the property each afternoon. There were also many fruit trees that had lots of ripening fruit. Basically, I did not feel like I was staying in a rental home but more like a home that was clean, well stocked and well cared for.
Thanks for listing this home for rent. Next time I come to Minnesota I will definitely be wanting to stay again.
Absolutely wonderful! The basement with all the toys, puzzles, and games was great for little and big kids alike. Christmas decorations were tasteful and festive! Nothing fancy about this cabin, but absolutely perfect for spending the week with family, cooking and enjoying the holidays! In the woods off a dirt road (1/2 mile or so?), but easy access to town. It was perfect! Thanks for a wonderful Christmas!
My husband and I as well as brother and sister-in-law stayed here for the week of the infamous Ryder Cup. The cabin met all our expectations. The deer, wild turkeys and birds were an added attraction. The house was very well equipped and Dave, the owner, was very responsive to our needs. We even had a brand new gas grill for our enjoyment. Our grandchildren came and spent the weekend with us and were thrilled with all the games, toys, and especially the foosball table!
We are moving to Minnesota and the town of Stillwater is now on our list of maybes!
Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
The cabin at Stillwater was beautiful from the outside and was very clean and beautiful in the inside. Location was very convenient and easy to find and quite central to where all our children lived in Minnesota. The owner came and salted and shoveled our walkways and the driveways, so it was very safe and comfortable to drive in and out. I loved the Christmas tree and the decorations that were there which made our get-together with our children and grand kids very special. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary utensils needed to make meals. I really loved that it was a clean place. There were toys for the grand kids downstairs and some games for grown adults to keep them busy also. Overall, our family really enjoyed our stay here tremendously.
We came to this cabin for a girl’s weekend and were amazed at how wonderful everything was. There was everything that we could possibly need and it was IMMACULATE! The fire pit in the back yard was great as was the game room in the basement! It was nice getting up to deer eating in the backyard and signing birds. The owner’s were very helpful and friendly! We will definately be going back again! I would recommend this cabin for anyone who is looking for a peaceful retreat!!
My daughters and I found this cabin on line and rented it for my sister’s wedding weekend. We had friends and family stay with us throughout our stay. It was a great place to gather, have meals, and relax. It’s so clean and completely equipped with everything you need. It’s not a long drive to down town Stillwater, either. I loved the peaceful setting. We had wild turkeys and deer visit us, too! We’re ready to come back. Thanks for everything!
Our family of four (daughters age 18 and 9 yrs old) stayed in the Stillwater Cabin for 4 nights. The cabin is easy to locate. We were impressed at the large plowed parking area. The fully furnished cabin more than met our expectations and needs. This would be a great place to stay with young children-they have thought to provide almost everything (from toys to a potty seat and pack’n play). In one of the closets you will find boots and snowshoes if you decide to go for a hike. We were able to spend quality time together playing some of the many games in the cupboards, cooking together or watching movies wrapped up in the fleece blankets. The movies provided were not only classics but also recently released. I wish I had checked out the selection sooner because we ran out of time before we ran out of yet-to-be-seen movies. The cabin has a cozy feeling, yet roomy for those times when the girls needed their own space. It was very convenient to have the WI-FI connection. The game room in the basement was a popular place for my husband and 9 yr old. They had daily foos ball tournaments. Our last evening we dined at Phil and Tara’s Hideaway. It was a very good choice to wrap up our stay in Stillwater. The food was bursting with flavor in realistic portions. The service was friendly and efficient. On our last morning at the cabin my husband and I watched a group of 4 deer bed down by the old barn foundation while we enjoyed our coffee. Our whole family really enjoyed our time and hope to make it an annual getaway. Since being home I have told everyone I cross paths with that they would enjoy staying at the cabin, too.
